Christmas Camp 2025: From Plastic Waste to Christmas Trees

Friend In Need India Trust (FIN) is organised a Christmas Camp for children at Saint Sebastiyar Church, Anayanthoppu, Kameswaram village, on 14th and 21st December 2025 (10.30–12.30 a.m.).
Over two Sundays, children create Christmas trees using discarded PET water bottles. On Sunday, the bottles were cleaned and painted green. Next Sunday, they will be cut, shaped, and decorated with colourful paper and stars to form a Christmas trees.

All FIN workshops start with a short meditation. In our Christmas camp, this is followed by a discussion on plastic waste, microplastics, and the importance of recycling and upcycling to move towards a circular economy model.
The workshop was organised with great care by Amutha ma’am and Raveena ma’am, with Paranjothi sir helping transport materials in advance. The children enthusiastically participated and proudly showcased their creations. The mornings ended on a warm note with hot sweet tea and vadai enjoyed by all.

Through creativity and conversation, the camp is teaching children how waste can be transformed into something meaningful and festive.

A special first for us: this was the FIRST FIN workshop where all the kids came on time! 😄👏
There was laughter all around, and the children went home proudly carrying their handmade trees after enjoying hot sugary tea and cake ☕🍰

A heartfelt thank you to Amutha ma’am and Raveena ma’am of FIN Trust staff for organizing the camp so beautifully 💚 And as always a big thanks to Paranjothi sir for all the logistics!

Our sincere thanks also to the management committee and the sisters of Saint Sebastiar Church at Kameswaram for kindly allowing us to hold the camp here 🙏
