Waste to Value Project in Kameswaram

We have news from FIN Kameswaram local team

What if we told you that COVID-19 pandemic and the worldwide lockdowns have been a blessing in disguise for FIN? We were as surprised and perplexed at this observation as you must be on hearing about this. While there is no denying that the last few months have been of unprecedented challenges for everyone around the world. But this time has also taught the world a great many things. This has also been true for FIN. We have engaged in many new activities and coordinated our efforts through use of Information and Communication technology. Zoom, Whatsapp, Dropbox, Google drive and YouTube have been our go to platforms during this period.

The most notable of FIN’s activities have been, the COVID-19 Community Education Campaign, COVID-19 Mask Project, FIN’s Environment Day Webinar, and Interns Webinar series on Waste Management Challenges

Besides their engagement in the COVID-19 education and mask projects, FIN’s local team at Kameswaram village has been active in other projects at the village office cum guesthouse. During the four month period, FIN ladies, Amutha, Meena and Nagalakshmi have made many useful items from used plastic bottles. These include:

1. A hanging flower/sapling holder

2. A pen stand for storing stationary

3. Decorative pieces in vibrant colours

The FIN village team has also been involved in making a small kitchen garden on the piece of land available to us in the office complex. They are growing vegetables using the compost from the kitchen waste. The plants include, brinjal, spinach varieties, green beans, and radishes. Join us in congratulating them upon their success with these projects. To know more about FIN’s activities like and follow us on our social media pages.
