Contaminated Village Ponds – how they can be cleaned up by reducing noise pollution!

The village pond is a typical example of a body of water that serves multiple purposes. It is used for bathing, but especially for washing clothes. However, the banks of the pond are filled with waste, and the water is dirty, which can spread germs. Despite this, people continue to use the pond for washing clothes.

In the village, Mariamman Kovil is a temple dedicated to the goddess of nature. However, the trend in the village is for families with some wealth to build their own temples to honor their families. Unfortunately, this has led to the proliferation of megaphones, which are sources of great pollution. In the past, people used to sing and make music in the streets and in the temple without megaphones, but nowadays, the power of the temple seems to be in the power of megaphones. This has resulted in a lot of noise pollution in the village.

If the money spent on building these individual temples was instead used to clean and maintain the village pond, it would be a better use of resources. By investing in water filtration and cleaning the pond, everyone in the village could wash their clothes safely without fear of spreading germs. This would be a more sustainable and community-oriented way of using the resources available.

In conclusion, it is important to rethink the way we use our resources. Instead of building individual temples with megaphones that cause pollution, we should focus on improving the village’s infrastructure, such as cleaning and maintaining the village pond. This would benefit everyone in the community and make the village a better place to live.
