In Kameswaram village like in most villages and towns in India – you cannot walk even 5 feet without spotting garbage on the side of the road. Now, usually, it’s because there are not enough public waste bins on the road.
So this is why Friend In Need India Trust NGO specially designed public waste bins that are easy to use and easy to empty by the Panchayat (village) waste collectors team.
But, the sad part is – people dump things besides the garbage bin and not into it and the Panchayat waste collectors team doesn’t empty it many times.
Then this makes people throw more outside the garbage bin, next to it rather than inside.
In turn, this makes the village waste collector team avoid this public waste bin!
So in a vicious circle – everyone suffers from the consequences of overflowing waste and unsanitary conditions.
It’s time for action. EVERYONE is accountable for ensuring the proper upkeep of these essential public resources so that we can all live healthy lives.
