FIN celebrates World Toilet Day in Kameswaram Village!

Eighteen children who are learning to type on the computer were invited to the World Toilet Day workshop on Sunday, November 19 at 11.00. All of them came. The workshop was conducted by Amutha Madam and Raveena Madam. They first conducted a short quiz on FIN so that the children could understand why we are inviting them to a workshop on sanitation – while they usually come here to learn computer typing! Then they saw a video on different types of toilets and their implications. They especially learned about the dangers of pit latrines in high water table areas like Kameswaram village and the comparative advantage of urine-diverting dry flush toilets popularly called ecosan toilets. Following this, the children enthusiastically participated in a second quiz on the links between sanitation and health. Finally, to show that they had learned something, they filled out a form with their main learnings to take home! The workshop closed with the fun part – the eats! Children were treated to steaming cups of tea, vadas, and chocolates and all went home happily!
